Check-Out Policy
K: One book at a time (*When students begin AR, they will be able to check out two books.)

1st: two books at a time (*When doing a special project, students will be allowed more books at the discretion of the media specialist.)

2nd-6th: Three books at a time (*When doing a special project, students will be allowed more books at the discretion of the media specialist.)

Books are checked out for one 6-day cycle. If students want to keep a book longer, they will need to bring the book in at their next library time to renew it.

Student Access
Students will be scheduled to come to the media center once per six-day cycle. The media center is open for general student check-out, silent reading and AR testing throughout the day.

Volunteers
Parent Volunteers enable the media center to stay open for continuous student checkout during classes. Thanks to the many parent volunteers for making this possible. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Weber.

Overdue/Damaged Books
When a student checks out a book it is his/her responsibility to return the book in good condition. There is no fine for overdue books. Students will not be able to check out additional books until the overdue book is returned or paid for, if lost or damaged.

Collection & Circulation
The media center currently has more than 16,000 books and has access to all AR quizzes (108,000+); also, we circulate more than 9,000 every month.

Reading Logs
Students are required to have their reading logs (or ziplock bags in Kindergarten) in order to check out books. The log is their “library card” since it contains their student ID number.

Mission Statement
The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students are effective users of information and resources. We accomplish this by:

• Providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats
• Providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas; and
• By working with other educators to design learning strategies that integrate technology, support the curriculum and meet the needs of individual students
