MUSIC IS THE KEY TO LEARNING

MRS. SEJKORA’S PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION STATEMENT

I believe all children can learn. Music offers a child a way to learn through expression and creativity. Music education should be an extension of core subject areas as well as a means of teaching self-discipline and self-esteem. It is my mission to provide a balanced, sequential and comprehensive music education to all students. I will strive to help my students become life-long learners who appreciate all types of music with an open mind.

Freedom Elementary students will experience a wide variety of activities throughout the year. These activities are based on the Chandler Unified School District music curriculum, which is based on Arizona State Standards and the National Standards for music education. The Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze methods will be employed.

Students in Grades Kindergarten thru 6 receive general music instruction during the school day in a six day rotation: two classes of 30 minutes each within the 6 days.

CHORUS is offered outside of the school day to students in grades 4, 5 and 6. Rehearsals are at 7:15 AM-8:10 AM on Wednesdays.
